A new model! Thanks to all who participated in the research evaluation of the RAPID-CASE consultation model. We are pleased to announce the responses have prompted a revised and fully updated version of the prescribing consultation model. Like the initial version, it has been developed using recognised frameworks and guidelines. Additionally, research evaluation has used responses from prescribers and educators to improve the model.
The PreSCRIBE-SAFER CPD workbook is now available. This workbook includes key prescribing themes, activities, forms, and a personal formulary. This is primarily aimed at students who are undertaking prescribing programmes or those who need a refresher of key principles.
This is the word document version of the workbook.
This document contains forms to help evidence CPD. This includes Case-based discussion & reflection forms, a personal formulary and the RPS (2021) Competency framework for all prescriber (CFAP). This is primarily aimed at practitioners to evidence their continued development as a prescriber.
This is a shorter version which contains forms that can be used for critical reflections or case-based discussions. There is also a Personal Formulary. This is for people who would like to record CPD, without the RPS CFAP.
A word document template for case-based discussions in practice, using the PreSCRIBE SAFER model to guide the structure of the consultation. Some example questions for assessors is also provided
Please find a word document template for a critical reflection on practice, using the Driscoll reflective model. This embeds the PreSCRIBE SAFER consultation model to guide the overview of the "description" part of the reflection.

Please note: A survey was previously available regarding the RAPID-CASE model which has now been revised based on the feedback. A new study will take place to evaluate the PreSCRIBE SAFER model.

The original RAPID-CASE model (Gould and Bain, 2022) was been informed by the 1999 National Prescribing Centre's 7-steps to safe prescribing as well as the more recent Competency Framework for all prescribers (RPS, 2021).
This consultation model for prescribing was the first iteration and has now been updated in line with research and evaluation.
